IN THE SECOND PLAY IN SEAN MATHIAS’ FOURTH SEASON AT THEATRE ROYAL WINDSOR!

Amidst the heat of a Neapolitan spring, Filumena Marturano (Felicity Kendal) lies on her deathbed, waiting to marry the man who has kept her as his mistress for twenty-five years. No sooner than Filumena and Domenica are wed, she makes a miraculous revovery, much to the surprise of her new, unwilling husband and his younger lover!

Filumena holds on to a secret from her past life: is she a simple woman who simply wants the best for her family, or a fiercely intelligent opportunist determined to claim what is hers?

In a battle of wills between all involved, Filumena mixes charm and optimism with acerbic wit and a moral examination of how where we come from defines who we become. 

 

Eduardo De Filippo’s classic Italian comedy sparkles with optimism, affection, and a fierce determination for family, no matter what it takes.

This season will be directed by Sean Mathias alongside Accolade (31 May – 15 June).
